About the Gadangme CT Community

The GaDangme Association of Connecticut (a.k.a. GaDangme of CT) is a nonprofit cultural and community organization registered with the CT Secretary of State.  We are dedicated to promoting the social, cultural, and economic interests of GaDangme people from Ghana living in Connecticut and neighboring MA, NH, VT, NY, RI & ME. 

In 2006, a group of friends and family who shared a common vision of unity, cultural preservation, and mutual support, founded the Association to create a strong community for GaDangmes living in the diaspora. What began as a small gathering of families and friends has grown into a vibrant organization committed to preserving the rich heritage, language, customs, and values of the GaDangmes for future generations.

The Association is not only built on the values of community, heritage, and service, but also celebrates and preserves GaDangme traditions and identity and serves as the hub of a supportive network for families and individuals in the region. Through cultural events, educational initiatives, mentorship programs, and community outreach, we strengthen bonds among our members and promote cultural awareness within the broader community.

The Association supports its charitable, educational, and cultural mission through membership dues, voluntary donations, sponsorships, fundraising programs, and community events organized throughout the year. These events include cultural celebrations, community dinners, youth initiatives, heritage events, and special fundraising efforts supported by members and friends of the organization.

Funds raised are also used to provide youth mentorship opportunities, assist members and families experiencing hardship, support children’s welfare initiatives, promote cultural education and awareness, and contribute to humanitarian and community development projects both locally and internationally.

The GaDangme Association of Connecticut operates primarily through the volunteer efforts and dedication of its members. All funds raised are used solely to advance the Association’s nonprofit mission and community-based programs, reflecting the GaDangme tradition of unity, compassion, and collective responsibility.

Affiliations
GaDangme Association of Connecticut is a member of the Council of Ghanaian Association (COGA), CT. We collaborate with GaDangme organizations in Ghana and across the diaspora, as well as other Ghanaian and African community groups in the United States.
